The Best Accessories for your School Picture Day | Denver School Photographer

Accessories can make or break an outfit! On school picture day you want your child to stand out and feel their best! Accessories can do that! Here are a few of our favorites!

School Pictures Accessories

1. Hats and hair accessories. We love stylish hats like fedoras, boys and girls can use them. For the girls, bows or headbands or even head wraps!

2. Watches and bracelets. We love when kids love something so much they just have to wear it at all times. THAT is them. Let them wear that favorite watch or pile of bracelets! It will be a great reminder of what they loved when you look back on your school portraits.

3. Necklaces. If it is a macaroni one or a big shine one. Either way, it will show who your child is!

4. Ties & bowties. I love when little boys dress up for school picture day, only because you don’t see it so much anymore. Plus looking like a little man is complete adorable! Let them pick a tie or bowtie that has a funky color or pattern to let their personality shine through.

Be Bold on Picture Day

Why you should let your children be bold on school picture day? School picture day comes once a year. Sometimes twice.  This is the one day where everyone dresses to the nines. This is the one day where they can shine and you can capture that. It is a great day to work on building confidence in your child. Confidence is key. Let’s grow that confidence together.

How School Pictures have Changed in the last 20 Years |Denver School Photographer

1997. Do you remember that year? Can it possibly be TWENTY years ago? Titanic sunk the box offices. Nintendo 64 sucked all of our time and Tiger Woods made everyone care about golf for a minute.

What about the fashion? Can you look back at school pictures from then and not cringe? Anyone else in full on Spice Girl mode? Guys were you trying to emulate the Backstreet Boys? Yes, we all went through a period in our fashion past that we might not be to proud of now. But guess what? What goes around comes around.

Chokers? They are back. Overalls? All the rage. And who doesn’t love a bold color to brighten up the office?

At Bloom Schools Photography we want to capture the times in a fun and fresh way. Something you can look back on and marvel more about the photography than what you were wearing. Though it is fun to laugh at what we were wearing.

Trust Bloom Schools Photography to capture timeless photos, not matter the fashion.

How to dress your kids for picture day | Denver School Photographer

School picture day can be one most stressful days of the years for parents! We’ve complied some easy tips to dress your kids for school picture day.

1. Wear comfortable clothing

The biggest advice we can give is to make sure that your kids are comfortable in their clothing for picture day. You don’t want them to be fidgeting around, itching or uncomfortable when they sit down in front of the camera. Dress them in their favorite outfit or something they have worn before. Don’t be afraid to make them stand out! A vibrant outfit is always better than muted colors.

2. Consider the background
When you are dressing your children for picture day consider what the background of the photo will be. You want their outfit to compliment the background not clash with it. Colors in the same family work well. Don’t be afraid of a bold graphic or pattern. Mixing and matching can be fun as long as the colors blend.

3. Look at their eyes
You can really make your kids eyes pop by wearing colored clothing that compliments their eyes! Blues with blue eyes are gorgeous and darker eyes deserve a bold color!

4. Accessorize
Accessories can add a lot to your outfit. Keep it to one accessory though. If you are wearing something that is too big or flashy it can become the focus point of the photo instead of your kids.

5. Let their personality shine!
Let their personality shine.  If your kids are eccentric let them wear the clothes they want to wear. Pictures Days are meant to create lasting memories of how your child was at that point in time of their life, don’t take away from that by limiting or choosing their clothing for them.

Let your kiddos show you what they like and have an opinion into their outfit decision. Make it a team effort and a bonding experience! The night before picture day lay out the outfit you chose together and have a easy morning getting dressed! Everyone is happy and it will shine through in their photos!
